The newest project to come from SOLUNE's original work.
An instrumental prog-metal/nu-jazz project exploring complex rhythmic patterns, soaring melodies and electronics, her compositions are unapologetic and filled with distortion.
The love-child of Animals as Leaders, Plini, Hiromi and Tigran Hamasyan, SOLUNE has already been awarded the Melbourne Women's International Jazz Festival Recording Prize in 2021, featured in The Age newspaper and will be making an entrance into the heavy scene with a soon-to-be-released debut album in 2025.
A killer band featuring some of the most in-demand Melbourne musicians:
-
Kumar Shome - guitar/effects
-
Matt Hayes - electric bass
-
Tim Cox - drums/electronics
-
SOLUNE (Selene Messinis) - keyboards/synthesizers

Melbourne duo LEFKADA (stylized LEFKΛΔΛ) are crafting a new space in electronic pop music; combining their studies in jazz with their love of house, R&B, and hip-hop.
Joining forces for this project are producer/drummer cartograph and songwriter/keyboardist SOLUNE, who draw on an extensive list of combined experience performing and writing for some of Australia’s most hyped acts.
With a melting pot of distinctive chords, lush vocal harmonies and intricate rhythmic designs, LEFKADA's previous singles have been streamed over 100000 times across the internet. They have also received airplay on Australian tastemaker radio station Triple J, as well as coverage by popular blogs in Australia and around the world, drawing comparisons to artists such as Disclosure, Mura Masa, and Yaeji.
Their latest track, ‘The Curator’, is a commentary on the way people use social media to manipulate their personal brand and image, creating a distorted perception of the lives they really live.
The production effortlessly glides between clean electro-pop, and gritty, industrial sound design; a representation of the lyrical content.

“The Curator is inspired by our fascination with “influencers”; we’re always wondering what their lives are truly like behind the veil of social media. Online, they meticulously curate their personal brand and image, so that their lives appear in perfect snapshot moments, which are usually never as perfect as they seem...”

Melbourne based piano trio ISM, featuring bassist Isaac Gunnoo, pianist Selene Messinis, and drummer Maddison Carter formed in 2013, having already shared strong musical relationships together. ISM has spent many years playing together and they released their debut album, 'This Canvas', which comprises of all-original music written by its three members.
Their vast experience and array of influences, has resulted in the formation of a complex, dynamic and ever-changing sound, which is only supported by their masterful improvisatory approach.
They sound decidedly Australian, and their love of local musicians is evident. One can, at times, hear anything from the classic piano trio sound of a group like the Keith Jarrett trio, to the lyricism of the music of Tony Gould, and the rhythmic complexities of the Avishai Cohen Trio, often within a single piece of music.
This ensemble is the result of the desire to pay homage to the timeless piano trio, while breaking down the confines of what is expected of a piano trio. The result is a group in constant development, never twice the same.
‘...A most inventive contemporary music ensemble... an album that is a very satisfying mixture of contemporary European chamber jazz
and the unique sound the band has been developing over the past few years... an album of sophisticated, complex, original music that
provides a very rewarding listening experience.'
– Ross Nable, PBS radio presenter
