Selene Messinis (also under the moniker SOLUNE) is a multi-instrumentalist (piano, keyboards, synthesizers, vocals, saxophone), songwriter, composer and educator.


Based in Naarm/Melbourne, Selene has over 10 years of experience in the music industry, working as session musician, collaborator, songwriter, composer, improviser and recording musician. She has worked in many different genres of music (ranging from pop to rnb, hip hop, jazz, metal, Brazilian and house music) and has covered almost every inch of Australia as a touring musician with some of Australia's leading acts.

She has recently been awarded the 2025 APRA Professional Development Award (jazz/improvised music), been named Melbourne International Jazz Festival's 2025 Take Note Leader and was a recipient of the 2022 Melbourne Women's International Jazz Festival Recording Prize. She has also been celebrated with features in The Age and Beat Magazine.

She has worked with well-known artists/bands: thndo,
Nikodimos, Bumpy, NO ZU, Gordon Koang, ParvynHarper Bloom, Don Glori, Teether,  RAMEN and many more, including working for two years as a full time composer/musician for renowned performing arts company Circus Oz.

Selene also has almost 15 years of experience as an educator, building her private teaching business and also working in tertiary and school settings, in both one-on-one lessons and running ensembles. She has also worked for 2 years as Program Manager of not-for-profit organisation YoWo Music, which is a band program that aims to promote gender equity in the music scene, while empowering and nurturing the next generation of young women and gender-diverse musicians.
